Term (Index) Definition
photovoltaics,  a domain in semiconductor science and engineering dealing with devices converting energy of electromagnetic radiation (light) into electrical signal via a photo-voltaic effect, i.e. the effect in which such conversion occurs with no external bias applied to device terminals; concept of a solar cell is based on the photo-voltaic principles.
Term (Index) Definition
concentrated photovoltaics, CPV,  lenses or other optical means are used to concentrate a large amount of solar energy (sunlight) onto a small area of photovoltaic cell, thereby, allowing generation of the same emount of electricity using much smaller (reduced area) solar panels.
