Search For Term

Term (Index) Definition
etch selectivity  selected material is etched at the much higher rate than others.
selective etching  etching processes in which one material is etched rapidly while the other is etched very slowly or not etched at all; Example - HF:water solution is etching SiO2 very rapidly while not etching silicon.
non-selective etching  etching process in which etching medium attacks materials on the wafer surface regardless of their chemical composition; in other words etch rates of different materials do not differ significantly.
