Term (Index) Definition
deep level  energy level "deep" in the energy gap of semiconductor, i.e. away from the edges of conduction and valance bands and close to intrinsic Fermi level; most commonly introduced by metallic contaminants in semiconductor.
DLTS  Deep Level Transient Spectroscopy; electrical method allowing detection and quantitative analysis of "deep" energy levels in the energy gap of semiconductor; deep energy levels are introduced by alien elements and possibly also structural defects in semiconductor lattice.
intrinsic Fermi level  Fermi level in an intrinsic semiconductor; located not exactly in the center of the energy gap because of the different effective mass of electron and hole.
