Term (Index) Definition
contact angle, wetting angle  tangent angle at the interface between droplet of liquid and a solid surface; measure of the surface energy; 0o for perfectly hydrophilic surface and 90o/ for perfectly hydrophobic surface.
hydrophilic surface  oxide covered Si surface; contact angle 0o, i.e. water is wetting the surface.
hydrophobic surface  oxide and contamination free Si surface; contact angle close to 90o, i.e. water is bidding on the surface.
